Joined the governors in 2016.
Reasons for becoming a governor – has an interest in special educational needs and disabilities and a long association with Elemore Hall School. Following his retirement, Derek wanted to maintain his links with the school and ‘give something back,’ by becoming a school governor.
Background information – worked in the Education, and Children and Young People Services in Durham L.A. for 38 years. In the latter part of his career, he managed a Special Educational Needs Service. He has a detailed knowledge of SEND as well as local and national issues relating to education. Currently Chair of Governors at Belmont Cheveley Park Primary School
